I was just wondering when my skin will start to improve? I have been on accutane for about 6 weeks now and it seems as if it is getting worse!? My doctor is also putting me on the long-term plan but on a lower dose. I am supposed to take 20mg a day for the next year. I could be on it for 2 years he said. He says that this regimen is more effective than the 20week course. I am also unsure of this is true as well. I just want to know when this gets better. I get married in about 2 months and am worried about the pictures.

It will get worse before it gets better. I didn't get too bad but I was on a antibotic for the first couple weeks to prevent flare up and I started accutane every other day instead of jumping right in to every day.
Anyway, I know some people who flare up/break out for about 2 months and after the 2 month mark start to see results. |

I have been on Accutane for about 5 to 6 moths now. I had a moderate case of modular acne. Nothing worked for me period! As a last step to try to effectively treat my acne they put me on Accutane. And it got pretty bad for a little while. But after about the first 2 months I could tell a great diffrence. I do have some of the side effects like dry lips. And I also have some joint pain. But I believe that it is all worth it! Its the best stuff they have made to treat acne in my opinion! If I were you I would stick with it. I have been treated for acne since I was 13 and I have spent over $5,000 in dermatologist appointments and perscriptions. Now I just turned 16 and Im finally getting results! I wasted 3 years trying to treat my acne. I wish they told me about it sooner! Anyway hope this helps! Justin House Birmingham,Alabama
